Uncle John’s Raw Linseed Oil - New Zealand grown and produced
Our raw linseed oil is a 100% natural oil, cold pressed from linseed grown on the Canterbury Plains of New Zealand.
Raw linseed oil has been used for generations to preserve and prevent deterioration of wood, and produce a stunning natural finish.
• Helps wood to retain natural moisture and prevent drying and cracking
• Maintains, waterproofs and protects wood
• Restores wood and untreated timber to leave a stunning natural finish
• Use on cricket bats, hockey sticks, chopping boards and more
Apply to wood with a brush or rag and allow to penetrate into the wood naturally. Linseed oil is very slow drying and can take several weeks to fully cure. Several coats may be applied after previous coats have been allowed to dry. For quicker drying times mix 50-50 with turpentine, and wipe away excess with a clean rag. All rags and brushes used must be thoroughly washed.
Raw linseed oil is not intended for human or animal consumption.
Uncle John’s Raw Linseed Oil is available in the following sizes: 1L, 2L, 5L, 10L and 20L

Just to be clear - is raw linseed oil safe for wooden spoons, bowls etc. where you may pick up micro bits of oil?
Yes the label states the oil is suitable for cutting boards - BUT not suitable for consumption. I assume that micro bits off bowls is fine but drinking a glass of oil is dangerous. Please clarify exactly what is safe and not safe.
Also volatile fumes coming off treated wood are more pungent and longer lasting than expected. But this is explained on the label.
Kind regards, Mark
For use on utensils and bowls, the raw linseed oil will be fine to use if not being used with heat. The oil will soak into the wood, and minimal amounts will be transferred to food while using the items.
If you are worried about this however, we suggest using Food Grade Flax Seed Oil which can also be purchased through us in larger sizes than we have on our website. Using food grade oil will also reduce the odour given from the oil, which we would recommend especially if using the oil for retail products.
Thanks so much for your 5 star review :)
